“Snowy Alley, 8″
Last three months of the year was an uneasy time for Hanna and Lyavon Volski, a famous artistic family, who spent this time working and organizing other people to work on a unique project called “Snowy alley, 8”. But the New Year is close and the first Belarusian new year’s show is ready. Generation.by team supported the project with our ideas, people and every day help during all these three months.

“Snowy alley, 8″ is unique for a number of reasons. Mainly because the participants of the show are people who rarely appear on the Belarusian TV screens – famous Belarusian musicians and socially active people who do not get invited to the shows of state TV channels because of ideological reasons and who represent a so called underground show-business community.
The show consists of a number of songs performed especially for the New Years holidays and a number of small impressions in between which feature a usual street (Snowy alley) in a small Belarusian town and typical Belarusian characters preparing for New Year’s celebrations.
In “Snowy alley” you can see colorful videos of beloved Belarusian groups and musicians: N.R.M., IQ48, Neuro Dubel, Indiga, Krambambula, Dzhambibum, Palac, Krama, Zmicier Vajciushkevich and Viktar Shalkevich.
Between the songs such people as Adam Hlobus (artist, writer), Uladzimir Arlou (writer), Stefan Ericsson (chief of the Belarusian department of the Swedish Embassy), Sviatlana Zieliankouskaja (actress), Yuruy Zisser (chairperson of the web-portal www.tut.by) and others tell their wishes to Belarusians for 2008.
Hanna Volskaja, producer of the project, commented:
We just wanted to gather our musicians together, to record a real joint New Year’s song. Because it has become a norm already to meet New Year with Russian low quality pop music or music of the same kind produced by Russian-speaking pop-musicians in Belarus. Many people don’t watch the TV on the New Year’s night any more. And at the same time we have so many professional musicians who have to perform abroad.
The show was filmed in Belarus and even though many of the producers prepared themselves to state interference, it was finished without any problems.
All the wishes, songs and positive mood will reach Belarusians through Belsat, a new satellite TV station which is broadcasting to the territory of Belarus from Poland.
The show finishes with a joint song “Everything will be all right” written by Lyavon Volski.

It should be posted on the web too, since most people can’t receive BelSAT

Totally agree with that! At the moment Belsat bought the right to broadcast the show. Hopefully they will also upload it online eventually. Meanwhile, people who have seen it on Belsat record it and upload pieces of “Snowy Alley, 8″ online.
