The Big Day for Belarusians – March 25th

Today Belarusians are celebrating the 90th anniversary of the proclamation of the Belarusian People’s Republic (BNR). Although this is not an official holiday, people still celebrate it and remember it as an important date of national history. This day is traditionally commemorated through a big street action and a meeting in the center of Minsk. This year’s 25th of March is celebrated with particular enthusiasm because of its big date – the 90th anniversary, as events associated to Belarus are held not only inside the country but also abroad.

Applicants Will Have to Pass an Interview in front of a Panel to Enter Some Faculties

We have already informed about the initiative of the Belarusian Ministry of Education to limit access to higher education. One of the new rules was the letter of recommendation to be submitted to enter some specializations, like Journalism, International Relations, Law and Public Administration, etc. Unfortunately the alarming news has not raised enough feedback from society.The HEIs will start to conduct interviews already this spring. To get an approving recommendation to enter the abovementioned specializations, applicants will have to pass an interview in front of a big panel.

Belarusian Time Gap Overcome in Cyberspace

An interesting article about Belarus has been published by Plotki, a project from around the bloc as they call themselves. The article tells about the Belarusian propaganda and the Internet as a tool of democracy and the only platform left for free disputes in Belarus. It was written by Volha Dudko, a Belarusian living in Prague. This makes the article more emotional as the young woman has the opportunity to compare and see the difference between the country where she is studying and Belarus, where her family lives.
